GUIDELINE FOR APPLICATION FOR THE ITSF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH GRANT
1. Qualification of Candidate
- The candidate is the Principal Investigator (PI) of a research team comprising a minimum of 2 (two) researchers.
- The team's Principal and Co-Investigator(s) are energetic and creative young Indonesian researchers aged below 45 on January 1, 2026.
- PI and Co-investigator(s) are residing in Indonesia, engaged in research and/or science-based innovation in Science and Technology, excluding mathematics, clinical medicine, and social sciences.
- Principal investigator is eligible for only 1 (one) proposal submission in the same fiscal year.
- Candidate can only receive STRG twice, not in a consecutive year. For those who received previous STRG, the current submitted proposal should be a continuation of the previous research.
- Candidate should carry out research mainly in Indonesia.
2. Research Grant
STRG is provided annually for the duration of one year for research that has not been completed at the time of proposal submission. ITSF will provide a total of approximately IDR 700 million in grants for the 2025 calendar year to support 18 approved proposals. This research grant is partly supported by Toray Science Foundation Japan. Toray Science Foundation will not claim any ensuing intellectual property rights resulting from this research.
3. Recommendation
The proposal should be recommended by a representative of a scientific research institution. For a higher learning institution, this shouldbe the Director of the Research Institute or the Dean of Faculty. For a non-university research center, this should be its director.
4. Application Procedure
The applicant should complete all forms supplied by ITSF and send them to ITSF as follows: The color scanned copy of the completed Nomination Form (pages 3 to 13) and all necessary attached documents in PDF format should be sent to ITSF using Google Form: bit.ly/ITSF-STRG.
The proposal is only submitted to ITSF and not to other research funding agencies in the same fiscal year.
5. Deadline
The completed forms should be received by ITSF before August 31, 2025.
6. Selection Mechanism
The Selection Committee will select grantees based on the quality of the research proposal. Where necessary, additional reviewers may be invited. Selected grantees will be endorsed by the ITSF Board of Directors. A statement of acceptance to ITSF requirements should be signed by the grantees before the grant is awarded. The decision of the foundation is final, and no correspondence regarding the decision will be entertained.
7. Selection Committee

8. Presentation of Research Results
The principal investigator is required to present his/her research results at the ITSF Science and Technology
Seminar tentatively scheduled in January 2027.
A progress report should be submitted in the middle of December 2026.
9. Final Report Submission
The Final Report should be submitted to ITSF at the latest one week after the seminar, in January 2027.
If the grantee fails to submit the Final Report, ITSF will report the case to the recommending institution.
The Final Report, to some extent, should be able to represent the full report, and the article submitted should contain the following:
- Abstract
- Results and discussion
- Introduction
- Conclusion
- Materials & Methods
- Recommendation
The grant’s tax will be borne by ITSF.
